Terms of Service
Last updated: 16 September 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Leona, including our website, web app, mobile experience, CV builder, cover letter builder, portfolio tools, AI tools, interview practice tools, downloads, sharing features, support channels, and related services (together, the "Services").
Leona is a sole proprietorship operated by Solomon Segogoba from Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga, South Africa, and our website is leona.co.za. You can contact us at support@leona.co.za.
By creating an account, accessing, paying for, or using Leona, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
1. Who may use Leona
Leona is intended for job-seeking, career-development, document-building, and interview practice purposes. You may use Leona only if you can lawfully agree to these Terms.
If you are under 18, you may use Leona only with permission and supervision from your parent or legal guardian. By allowing a minor to use Leona, the parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on the minor's behalf and is responsible for the minor's use of the Services.
We may suspend or delete an account if we believe it is being used unlawfully, without required consent, or in a way that creates risk for Leona or other users.
2. What Leona does
Leona helps users create, edit, improve, preview, download, and share CVs, cover letters, portfolios, and related job-search documents. Leona may also provide AI-assisted writing, document analysis, file parsing, interview practice, templates, and usage-based tools.
Leona is not a recruitment agency, employer, school, legal adviser, financial adviser, or guarantee of employment. We do not promise that any CV, cover letter, portfolio, AI answer, interview result, or document will get you a job, interview, admission, contract, or income.
3. Accounts and security
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it updated. You must notify us if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you create, upload, or submit to Leona, including CV information, cover letters, portfolio content, files, images, prompts, and feedback ("User Content").
You give Leona a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, display, transmit, modify, generate, export, and otherwise use your User Content only as needed to provide, secure, improve, and support the Services.
You are responsible for your User Content. You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to upload or use it and that it does not violate any law or third-party rights.
5. AI-generated content
Leona may use artificial intelligence to generate, rewrite, score, summarise, analyse, or improve content. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, outdated, biased, or unsuitable for your situation. You must review, edit, and verify AI-generated content before relying on it or sending it to employers, recruiters, schools, clients, or other third parties.
You are responsible for how you use AI output. Leona does not guarantee originality, accuracy, compliance, suitability, job-match quality, interview performance, or results.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use Leona to:
- Break the law or violate another person's rights.
- Upload malware, harmful code, spam, phishing content, or abusive content.
- Attempt to hack, scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, bypass quotas, bypass payment, or disrupt the Services.
- Create misleading, fraudulent, defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, sexually exploitative, or unlawful content.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, qualifications, work history, or authority.
- Upload content you do not have permission to use.
- Use Leona to make automated high-volume requests without permission.
7. Plans, payments, quotas, and access
Some features may be free, paid, subscription-based, usage-limited, quota-limited, time-limited, or available only on certain plans. We may change plan features, limits, pricing, models, templates, quotas, and availability from time to time.
You authorise our payment processor to charge applicable fees, taxes, renewals, and other amounts shown during checkout. If payment fails, we may suspend, downgrade, or limit access to paid features.
When you buy a paid plan, you ask us to start providing access immediately, and you agree to the supply of digital content and services starting right away. Before you place an order, you can review the transaction details and correct mistakes.
8. Refund policy
Payments for Leona's digital services, subscriptions, credits, AI usage, templates, and document tools are non-refundable once access has been provided, except where required by applicable law or where we choose to provide a refund at our discretion.
Under South African law, a consumer may cancel an electronic transaction for services within seven days after concluding the agreement, unless the service began with the consumer's consent before that period ended — which is what happens when you ask us to start providing access immediately. Nothing in these Terms removes any consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded, limited, or waived.
Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals but does not automatically refund amounts already paid. You remain responsible for cancelling before renewal if you do not want to be charged again.
9. Complaints and dispute resolution
If you have a complaint about the Services, please contact us first at support@leona.co.za so we can try to resolve it. We will acknowledge and deal with complaints within a reasonable time.
If we cannot resolve a complaint, you may use the dispute-resolution options available to you under applicable law, including the relevant consumer authorities or ombuds, or the courts described in the governing law section. For complaints about how we process your personal information, you may contact the Information Regulator (South Africa) — see our Privacy Policy for the contact details.
10. Emails and communications
By using Leona, you agree that we may send you service, account, login, security, payment, subscription, quota, support, product, legal, and system emails. These messages are part of operating the Services.
We only send marketing or product-update emails where the law allows it — to people who have opted in, or to existing customers with an opt-out included in every message. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails, but we may still send important service, security, billing, or legal notices.
11. Availability and changes
We try to keep Leona available and useful, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or permanent access. Features may change, break, be limited, be removed, or become unavailable. We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time.
12. Third-party services
Leona may integrate with or depend on third-party services such as hosting providers, authentication providers, databases, storage providers, payment processors, email providers, analytics tools, AI providers, and external links. We are not responsible for third-party services, websites, policies, outages, errors, or actions.
13. Intellectual property
Leona, including our brand, logo, templates, designs, software, code, layouts, interface, and non-user content, belongs to Leona or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, sell, resell, license, clone, or exploit Leona except as allowed by these Terms.
14. Termination
You may stop using Leona at any time. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access if you break these Terms, create risk, misuse the Services, fail to pay, or if we need to comply with law or protect Leona, users, or third parties.
15. Disclaimers
Leona is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted service.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Leona will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost opportunities, lost data, loss of goodwill, job-search outcomes, employer decisions, AI mistakes, or service interruptions.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid to Leona for the affected Service during the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where legally allowed, disputes will be handled by the courts or appropriate dispute forums in South Africa. If you live outside South Africa, you may also have mandatory local consumer rights that these Terms do not override.
18. Updates to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be shown on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Where a change is material, we will give reasonable notice by email or in the app before it takes effect, and we may ask you to accept the updated Terms before you continue using the affected Services, where required by law.
